The search engine that plants trees

Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees. I wrote a story about it for the EIB Institute. Christian Kroll, the founder, has a lot of interesting ideas about using his business to basically save the planet. It sounds audacious but he's actually doing a hell of a job. So far Ecosia has planted more than 120 million trees around the world, creating jobs, and reforesting large areas, which has a number of good knock-on effects (like helping mitigate mass migration). His ambition is to eventually be planting billions of trees each year. I've been using the search engine for a couple of months now; it feels good knowing the ad revenue the company makes from my searches goes toward something good. The article and short video are worth the time. And I encourage you to try Ecosia.
